Marketmore 76 Cucumber

Be sure to check out our Cucumber Growing Guide to learn more about how you can successfully grow cucumbers at home.

Marketmore Cucumber has long been the standard slicing variety for many growers. This open-pollinated variety produces dark green fruits that are 8-9" long and weigh between 8-12 oz. at prime maturity. Fruits are long, slender and have a skin that is slightly bumpy. Marketmore takes longer to start producing than most varieties, but it has a longer picking window and can usually be harvested well into the summer. The high productivity into the warmer months has made it a favorite for market farmers and home gardeners throughout the years. Marketmore Cucumber is a slicing variety that is great for fresh eating. It has a crisp flavor and crunchy texture that make it a great addition to any salad or vegetable platter. It also has a nice ratio of Seeds to flesh that make it meaty and filling. When eaten fresh, Marketmore refreshes the palate while pleasing one's appetite.

Cucumbers perform best when direct seeded. They do not perform well when transplanted. Cucumbers may be direct-seeded by hand or with a walk-behind seeder. To obtain a good stand of plants, we suggest planting Seeds every 6-8" inches and thinning to one seed per foot. Cucumbers are a vining plant and grow best when provided a trellised structure to climb. Use a strong trellis that is well-supported with deeply driven stakes. Keeping plants off the ground will reduce the potential of plant diseases like mildews and other diseases that can result from excess plant moisture. Trellising will also keep the fruits cleaner and save time with harvest and processing, in addition to reducing fruit discoloration or yellowing from sitting on the soil surface.
